2011 End of Winter 10x10

posted 28 Aug 2011, 01:04 by Nathan Wallace
The 3rd annual end of winter 10km erg and 10km run took place today. Plenty of competitors took part part in the men's division, but only 1 woman took part; however Bex Sharratt, a new rower from Wellington R.C. did very well with a time that would have placed her 7th overall.

Only one of last year's winners took part - Michael Tong, who still came a respectable 6th, despite having done no rowing training all winter.

Cam Forsyth won the event, just edging out Michael Abernethy in the final sprint by the club house. Gary Ward was the first masters rower home and took 3rd overall, while Josh Roughan posted the fastest erg time of 36:48.6

There were no records broken this year, but most competitors enjoyed themselves. The event was followed by a bbq and prize-giving.

Hopefully there will be more female competitors next year!
