Rowing at Star

Rowing is a sport that most people would associate with boats on the water. Owing to the prevailing northerly wind, rowing at Star involves a significant portion of indoor rowing. This is not only good for fitness, but it also makes up for the lack of time that all Wellington rowers get on the water.

The club has an abundance of Concept 2 and RowPerfect ergometers. The club also has a set of sliders for the C2's to more closely mimic an actual boat.

Star caters for all ages and levels of rower:
  • The club has an adult membership ranging from novice to masters.
  • At School level - Wellington College, Wellington Girls College and Queen Margaret College are based with the club.
  • At Tertiary level - Massey University Wellington is currently based with the club. (Victoria University also has members that row at Star)

We aim to run learn to row programmes throughout the year (except Jan-Feb) for complete beginners. This gives you are chance to see if rowing is the sport for you.

Star crews compete at a national level at the following regattas:
  • NZ National Rowing Championship
  • NZ Secondary Schools Rowing Championship (Maadi Cup)
  • NZ Universities Rowing Championship
  • NZ Masters Rowing Championship
